This week in math students worked on solving problems involving probability, as well as designing probability games. We will also focus on reviewing the math curriculum over the last remaining days.
In language and social studies students learned about First Nations issues, including the impact of the Indian Act. We read and discussed an article entitled, "Many Indiginous people see little reason to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday," from the Toronto Star. Students learned why some Indiginous people feel this way and connected past events to today's current situation. We also watched several Heritage Minutes and discussed the main idea of each.
In art we began a project entitled, "My Canadian Landscape," which we'll be working on next week. Students analyzed famous Canadian art works, focusing on the use of rhythm, which they will use in their own painting.
