In math this week, we continued our unit on patterning. Students are solving numeric patterns, and word problems that involve patterning. This week in language students brainstormed and created outlines for a narrative with the theme of, "the power of kindness." It's wonderful to see the students' voices in their stories, as each story is unique, while having the same theme.
Students also prepared for their student-led interview next week. Students reflected on their learning skills, and even wrote their own report card. Next week each student will lead their interview with parents, and will discuss their strengths, areas for development and strategies to improve.

In social studies the grade 4's are learning about Canada's regions, and the grade 5's are learning about Canada's political system. The grade 5's continued to research for a project on a social justice or environmental issue. They will write a rant, and present it to the class. Grade 4's are working on and presenting a project about Canada's political regions.
Our week finished with a lovely Remembrance Day assembly. Students did a wonderful job of being silent and solemn during the assembly, and the choir sang beautifully! We watched a video in class about Remembrance Day, called, "A Pittance of Time," Here is the link for that if you'd like to watch it at home. It always chokes me up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kX_3y3u5Uo. We also read the book, "Peace" and discussed how it relates to our own lives.
