In math this week students wrote a geometry test. That test is going home today (Friday) to be signed, corrected as much as possible, and returned on Monday. We started a new unit on patterning and algebra, solving for unknown variables.

In language we wrapped up our poetry unit. I've been so impressed with the work students have done in this unit! Students presented a poem to the class, and some presented during our poetry celebration with Mr. Siefert's class. Students handed in their poetry folders and chose their 3 favourite poems to evaluate. We also continued with literature circles this week; students met twice in their groups to discuss the book that they're reading. Additionally, students signed up for their book chat assignment. Students will present their book chat on a book that they've read independently sometime in the last 2 months. We continue to work on using eye contact to engage listeners. I encourage students to practise their book chat many times at home so that they can use eye contact.

In science the grade fives are researching a topic related to human health and creating a power point. The grade sixes are completing a webquest on biodiversity. In phys. ed. we are learning the skills of floor hockey. In health students continued to work on a health and media project on alcohol or drugs.

Finally, we had our class pizza party! Many thanks to the McIlravey family for bidding and winning the pizza party for our class!
