In math this week students solved problems involving decimals, including multiplying decimals by 0.1,. 0.01 and 0.001, as well as dividing decimal numbers. Students wrote a quiz on Friday, which went home the same day to be corrected and signed. Next week we will look at rates and ratios, then move onto our second unit of geometry.
In language we watched several persuasive speeches and rants. Together we co-created the success criteria for a speech or rant. Students created their outline for their speech or rant using a template.
In science the grade fives presented their projects on natural disasters and the structural features that are used to withstand them. The grade sixes are delving into electricity.
In phys. ed. we continued our unit on badminton. In art students are creating posters with the topic of mental health. Some students will enter their posters in a TDSB poster contest! Finally, we went to the Kiwanis festival where the grade sixes and some of the grade fives competed and won gold!
