May 22-26

In math this week students learned how to solve problems that involve probability. Grade 6 students also wrote some review practice tests for this week's EQAO. We will continue to study probability this week and next.

In language students wrote a writing test. Students then looked at exemplar answers in groups and evaluated them. Students also explained why the pieces, leveled 1, 2, 3 and 4 were given those marks. Finally, students evaluated and commented on how to improve their own piece of writing. Check out our great thinking and writing on the bulletin board in the hall outside room 9. Students also continue to work on their social studies project.

In science grade fives continued their project on energy. They are designing and building a toy, device or product that transforms energy. They will then create a TV commercial to sell it. Those projects will be presented next week. Grade sixes are learning about electricity and are working on a similar project.

In health, phys. ed. and dance students began to work in groups to create a dance to a piece of music of their choice.
