April 10-13

In math this week students solved problems involving transformations. These include translations, reflections and rotations. Students also wrote the math contest on Wednesday and had a financial literacy workshop on Thursday.

In language students continued to write and practise their persuasive speech. Speeches will be presented next week. We also read and compared 2 different texts related to The Day of Pink.

In science grade fives presented their projects on a natural disaster, with a corresponding design and build project. They also began a new unit on energy. Grade sixes are learning about electricity.

In phys. ed. we started a new unit on track and field. We learned about and practised sprinting, jumps and relay.  In dance we started to create a group dance with the theme of acceptance. Finally, we attended Panfest, during which all the grade 4, 5 and 6 students performed and listened to other performances.
