April 18-21

In math this week students solved problems involving transformations. Denise Colby, our area's learning coach, came into our math class on Tuesday to show students how to use an app called, "Explain Everything." They used it to explain their thinking when solving a math transformation problem. We also worked on drawing different views of 3-D structures, including top, front and side views. Students learned how to draw 3-D figures using isometric dot paper. They will practise this skill for homework this week.

In language students presented their persuasive speeches. I was so impressed with the quality of their writing, as well as how much their presentation skills have improved this year!

In science grade fives began a new project on energy. They will design and build a toy, device or product that transforms energy. They will then create a TV commercial to sell it. Grade sixes are learning about electricity and will work on a similar project.

In phys. ed. we continued to practise track and field skills. Students also learned about the sport of pickleball and had a chance to start using pickleball equipment to rally with each other.
