In math this week, we continued our unit on number sense, focusing on fractions. Students learned how to compare and order fractions, including mixed, improper and proper fractions. There will be a quiz next Thursday on fractions.
In language, students finished their independent writing, and shared their writing in groups, or in front of the class. Ms. Ana, our student teacher, began a unit on narrative writing, that will also weave in our big idea of, "How should people treat each other?"
In science the grade 5's worked on their Bill Nye inspired presentation on a topic related to matter. Grade 6 students gave presentations to the class about biodiversity, and are beginning to learn about space.
In art students finished their one point perspective drawings. In phys. ed. students began to work on their floor hockey skills.
