In language, students continued to work on their independent writing. Most students are writing a narrative piece. Students had their CASI returned. The CASI is a reading comprehension test. Students recorded their mark in their agenda. Please ask your child about his/her mark, as it's a good indication of his/her current reading level.
In science the grade 5's learned about the states of matter. They are now in groups, working on a Bill Nye inspired presentation on a topic related to matter. We discussed the learning goals and success criteria for this project, and students began to plan together. Grade 6 students gave presentations to the class about biodiversity.
In art students learned about the key components of a one-point perspective drawing, including a vanishing point and horizon. Students created rough drafts and final drafts of a one-point perspective drawing of their own choosing. In phys. ed. students continued to refine their tchoukball skills. Many thanks to the parent council for buying the school a set of tchoukball nets and balls!
