April 3-6

In math this week, learned about 2 different transformations in geometry: translations (slides) and reflections (flips). Next week we will look at rotations, and combining these transformations. Students had their quiz on decimals returned. These should be corrected over the weekend, signed and returned on Monday. If anyone needs extra practice of these concepts, I'm available after school on most Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays for extra help.

In language, students wrote a reading response on their literature circle book, including a retell, relate and reflect paragraph to explain their understanding. These are due on Monday. On Friday we looked at a website for ebooks, which we will begin to write ourselves starting next week! Here is that website: https://sites.google.com/tdsb.on.ca/bffgallery/home Any students who were away on Friday are encouraged to explore the site and read some book examples.

In science the grade 5's had Scientists in the School on the topic of energy.  Grade 6 students continued to learn about space.

In art students are working on a project in which they are creating a work of art that answers one or more of our inquiry questions, with a focus on using the creative process. Those piece of work are due on Monday. In phys. ed. students learned how to hurdle!
