April 30-May 4

In math this week, we continued our second last math unit, which is measurement. Students solved problems involving linear measurement. The learned the mnemonic device, "King Henry Doesn't Usually Drink Chocolate Milk." This helps the students convert from one metric unit to another. The words stand for kilo, hector, deka, unit, deca, centi, milli. Please ask your child to explain how it works. Students also learned about mass and capacity this week. There will be a quiz on these concepts next Tuesday. After that we will study perimeter and area.
In language, students presented their ebooks on diversity. We also started another round of literature circles. Students will receive their books next week.

In science the grade 5's continued their project on energy. They will create a product, toy or device that transforms energy, then sell it using a commercial. Grade 6 students continued to learn about space.
