May 7-10

In math this week, we continued our second last math unit, which is measurement. Students wrote a quiz on linear measurement on Tuesday, and that quiz was returned to be signed on Wednesday. Students are now studying perimeter, area, volume and surface area.

In language, students presented their ebooks on diversity. We also started literature circles. Students will meet in groups to discuss their book twice a week. Students are also responsible for completing a role sheet for each meeting, to help contribute to class discussions. We also had a TUSC field trip where students learned to use primary sources to research.

In science the grade 5's continued their project on energy. They are creating a product, toy or device that transforms energy, then creating a commercial to sell it. Grade 6 students continued to learn about space. In health we continued a unit on human growth and development.

2) Complete the math on area and perimeter (gr. 5's). Grade 6's complete the EQAO section on Data Management and Probability.
3) Complete the reading task and writing task.
