May 21-25

In math this week, students wrote a quiz on measurement. That quiz went home to be signed and returned. There will be a retest of measurement concepts on June 6th. We also began our last unit, which is probability.

In language, we continued with literature circles. Students are meeting in groups to discuss their book twice a week. Students are also responsible for completing a role sheet for each meeting, to help contribute to class discussions. We continued their language/social studies project. Grade 5's are researching a First Nations group or an explorer. Grade 6's are researching an immigrant group or First Nations group that has contributed to Canadian identity. This project will be completed at school, rather than at home.

In science the grade 5's presented their project on energy.  Grade 6 students continued to learn about electricity.

Homework:

1) Read for 20-30 minutes daily.
There will be no additional homework, due to EQAO.
