In language, we continued with literature circles. Students are meeting in groups to discuss their book twice a week. Students are also responsible for completing a role sheet for each meeting, to help contribute to class discussions. We also began a language/social studies project. Grade 5's are researching a First Nations group or an explorer. Grade 6's are researching an immigrant group or First Nations group that has contributed to Canadian identity. This project will be completed at school, rather than at home.
In science the grade 5's continued their project on energy. They are creating a product, toy or device that transforms energy, then creating a commercial to sell it. Grade 6 students continued to learn about electricity.
